Importance of watching – Part 2

Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:41

Jesus gave a key to His disciples how to overcome temptations. If we too apply it, we will also be able to overcome. Along with this, Jesus also revealed a truth to them, they were not willing to fall into temptations, their spirit was willing to fight the temptations and overcome, but their flesh was weak. The natural attractions, the beauty of this world, the lust of the eyes, the love for money, the people pleasing attitude are some of the things which attract our flesh to make us fall.

Thats why Jesus said, "Watch and pray." Jesus could have said, "Pray and watch." But He stressed 1^st on "WATCHING". Praying is important, but watching is more important. By watching you will be able to control your wrong desires and passions, originating from your flesh. By Watching you can stop all the wrong thoughts and desires from entering you, thus avoiding being tempted. In the morning if you have prayed, but during the day, if you are not watchful, you can think negative, doubts can be put in your mind. Constantly thinking about wrong things, will make these wrong thoughts to enter your heart. If you are not watchful, you will sit among gossipers and they will tempt you to gossip. If you are not watchful, then you will sit with people speaking negative and then you will give up your faith, which will lead you to stop praying and even stop reading the bible. Thats why Jesus stressed 1^st on watching. If you are watchful, the devil will always be defeated. No temptations will be able to overcome you.

You have to watch. If you are watchful, you will not allow thief to enter your house. Though the thief will try to enter your house and rob you, but because you were watchful, because you were prepared and ready to fight the thief, and you had all the useful weapons and support required to fight the thief, you will overcome the thief. Though you didn't know the time when the thief is going to come, but because you were prepared you defeated the thief. Thus, the thief wasn't able to rob your valuables. That same way, you have to be prepared everyday from the thief who is trying to put wrong thoughts, doubt and unbelief in your mind and rob all your blessings and healing and prosperity which God is giving you, by applying your faith.
